DAVOR MIKULCIC
Dipl. Eng. Arch. (Sarajevo) ANZIA, RAIA studio MWA principal architect
Davor grew up in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina (ex Yugoslavia). His pursuit of architecture in secondary school led him earn a diploma in architectural design at the University of Sarajevo’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning, graduating at the top of his class as one of the best students in his generation.
Davor worked as an architect in Yugoslavia until civil war broke out. After he and his family spent time as refugees in Denmark, he and his wife were granted permanent residency and later New Zealand citizenship. He is currently a registered architect in New Zealand and Australia, where he conducts work for his firms studio MWA ltd. (Wellington, New Zealand) and davor mikulcic architect (Brisbane, Australia) as part of studio MWA family. Studio MWA work has been widely published and recognized through various architectural awards.
Davor’s international education and over 25 years of International working experience include work in Ex Yugoslavia, Austria, Denmark, New Zealand and Australia.
Concurrent with his practices, Davor teaches Architectural and Interior Design at Brisbane Queensland University of Technology, School of Design, and judges for various international architectural competitions. For the last three years, he has been an invited juror for the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, serving as chairperson for Public Architecture, Brisbane, in 2010.
Davor's goal has always been to create and be a part of an idea-based practice devoted to architecture that encourages thought, challenges expectations and provokes new ways of seeing and inhabiting the contemporary environment.
Team approach towards each Project with “hands on”, from inception to completion; give clients warranty and peace of mind that all studio MWA projects will have full attention from experienced team lead by Davor.
