Designing an architect’s own studio is always a challenge, particularly when constrained by space, budget, and a demanding brief.
For our studio, we sought to create an inspiring and functional workspace within a mere 18 square meters.
This project required innovative solutions to maximize the potential of the space and to create an environment that would leave a lasting impression on potential clients.
Our approach focused on simplicity and sustainability, utilizing cost-effective and environmentally conscious materials such as strandboard, marmoleum, and mini corrugated zincalume.
These materials not only add warmth and texture to the space but also align with our commitment to sustainable design practices.
The natural appearance of these materials, combined with a minimal color palette, creates a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
The initial concept was to maximize desk space while creating a clear division between public and private areas.
A key design element is the large, diagonally positioned strandboard panel, which hangs from the ceiling and is supported by identical floor supports. This simple yet effective partition divides the space into a private area for library, files, and printing, and a public area that includes the entry lobby, seating, reception, and extensive desk space.
The expansive desk area provides ample room for various activities, including computer workstations, scale model making, sketching, and drawing, as well as administrative tasks. This design ensures that the workspace is versatile and adaptable to the diverse needs of an architectural studio.
The strategic use of sustainable materials such as strandboard and marmoleum not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also underscores our dedication to environmentally responsible design.
The mini corrugated zincalume adds a modern, industrial touch, creating a dynamic contrast with the warm, natural textures of the wood.
The overall design is a harmonious blend of form and function, demonstrating our commitment to creating spaces that inspire, engage, and endure.
Through meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of studio needs, we have crafted a simple yet elegant working environment that serves as both a functional office and a showcase for our design philosophy.
